Repeated Notifications for Users on a Community Site

Overview

You may face an issue where some of your users in a particular community are getting repeated notifications of a specific post with the same timestamp. For example:

  • Aditya [AUTOSOL/MSOL/PRTH]: Yes,
We at perth are also struggling with same issue
    (4/1/2021 8:11 AM) | Like

Information

The is not a problem with NewsGator nor SharePoint, because if it were, you would expect to see this behavior with every post in the same community and it's only happening for some users and at some points.

Please check if the repeated posts do exist in the Newsfeed. If they do, it means the notification email is correct and the problem lies within the repeated posts. If they don't inform the agent when you open a ticket.

Repeated posts can be the result of:

    • Network Failure
    • Form resubmission (Multiple refreshes)
    • Corrupted Cache in the browser
    • Lack of updates

To understand what may be the reason, contact one of the affected users and get the following information:
1. Is this happening every time they post, or randomly?
2. Is this happening always in the same community or in others as well?
3. If the problem is reproducible, get the HAR recording so we can check what happens in the background when the problem is reproduced. Find in this external article, how to Generate HAR recordings in the different browsers.

Once you get the required information, please open a support ticket and inform the agent of the knowledge you gathered.
